Dennis is an economist with a focus on quantitative economic and statistical analysis. Economic models often need to be complex to account for the range of moving parts at play in settings such as regulated markets. However, they must also be user-friendly so as to provide maximum usefulness for clients. Dennis has developed many interactive economic tools that rely on detailed economic or statistical modelling ‘under the hood’, but are easy to use for scenario testing and sensitivity analysis. Bespoke modelling tools have been constructed for a range of sectors including energy, healthcare, telecommunications and waste.
Dennis has expertise in developing, implementing and reviewing cost-benefit analysis (CBA) methodologies. He has experience in CBA for large and small policy interventions, both in data-rich contexts (e.g. transport project evaluations) and for sectors where data is often scarce (e.g. science and technology project evaluations). Dennis sees CBA as a valuable tool to informing decision-making, particularly in the stages of options development and sensitivity analysis.
Dennis holds a First Class Honours degree in Economics from the University of Sydney, and his Honours thesis has developed into ongoing research about the labour market for taxis.
