Maurice is an experienced economist working across a range of areas including infrastructure regulation and appraisal, research and develop policy design and evaluation and econometric analysis and forecasting. He has worked with wide range of clients, including government departments, regulators and industry and enjoys applying economic principles to solve complicated real world problems.

Maurice’s quantitative skills enable him to develop sophisticated economic models including simulated probabilistic forecasting models, costs benefit analysis model, financial models and supply chain models. His recent work has included developing a social marginal cost model to estimate efficient public transport fares as well as a household waste supply chain model to measure the social costs of changing recycling arrangements. Previously he has developed life cycle models to measure the impact of different medical treatments on patient outcomes and has undertaken ex post reviews of scientific research. Maurice also has extensive experience working undertaking forecasting for the regulated utilities, including electricity and gas.

Prior to joining the CIE Maurice was an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia. He holds a Master of Economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts, from the University of Melbourne.
