The CIE advised the NSW Government on the costs and benefits of alternative spatial directions for Sydney.
In 2010, this involved alternative scenarios for the amount of greenfield and infill development. View report here.

The costs and benefits broadly comprised the value to people of where they live and value to businesses of alternative locations, the costs to government including infrastructure, transport congestion costs and environmental costs.
Since then the CIE has advised the NSW Government on a range of other alternative growth paths, and paths for particular areas such as Greater Parramatta and Olympic Peninsula and Western Sydney.
